The coveted Kudo Award – now in it’s 26th year – is given to a select handful of “noteworthy products and services” in the fly fishing category after rigorous review by the experienced staff of Fly Rod & Reel magazine writers.

Doug Cummings, president of Royal Wulff Products, located on the Willowemoc River in Livingston Manor, NY said “This was as bad as I can remember. So much infrastructure lost, including an entire town.” Nearby Margaretteville on the East Branch of the Delaware suffered badly from flooding, as did much of Schoharie County, including Esperance, which was nearly completely destroyed in the raging waters.

As the water recedes and people rebuild their homes, school, roads, and bridges, many are wondering why these two powerful storms took the track that they did. Both storms seemed to take a left-hand turn at New York City and head straight up the Hudson Valley, as opposed to the usual coastal track that is more common. Rivers and streams here have been scoured and the full effects on fish and wildlife won’t be known for some time.
